AI Search Crawlers and Technical Eligibility

Before any question of content quality, an AI search system has to be able to reach, fetch and parse the page. That is technical eligibility, and it is the layer where an audit finds its cheapest, most defensible wins: a robots rule written for a different era, a rendering path a crawler cannot execute, or a block applied to the wrong bot for the wrong reason.

The articles in this cluster stay at that layer. The OAI-SearchBot and GPTBot guide separates search visibility controls from training controls, because blocking one is a commercial decision and blocking the other is a policy decision, and sites regularly make one thinking they made the other. The Bing Webmaster Tools guide covers the one first-party reporting surface that currently shows AI-driven performance, and how to read it for a client without overclaiming what it proves.

Eligibility evidence belongs inside a larger protocol: the audit methods cluster covers how it is recorded, and measurement and reporting covers how it reaches the client. In the packaged audit system, this layer is the first of the four the method walks.
